Raymond Mhlaba Municipality (RMM) would like to confirm a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Fort Beaufort Unit (workshop). Unfortunately, an employee succumbed to his gun wound yesterday afternoon in hospital.
The Municipality sends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and RMM employees.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has been alerted, and they are investigating the incident. The Municipality is arranging a counselling service for the affected family and its employees.
Raymond Mhlaba Municipality has confidence of the SAPS processes and in this regard. Raymond Mhlaba communities and employees are requested to give SAPS space to deal with the matter.
The Municipality will later communicate further details regarding an institutional memorial service and Funeral Service.
