AIM:
To promote/instill anti-dumping mentality to community members, also to educate municipal employees, EPWP, CWP and Waste Management.
ACTIVITY:
Training, awareness, clean up and cleaning of illegal dumps.
The Raymond Mhlaba Municipality has taken a new strategy on promotion of keeping our communities clean. This great campaign is led by Community Services with other important stakeholders, namely CWP, EPWP, Engineering, ADM, Communication and Environmental Affairs. The Campaign started at Bedford from the 14th to 16th September 2021. The areas which benefited on the Green Team campaign include Goodwin Park, Bongweni, Newbright, Khayelitsha, Nonzwakazi, Polar Park and Bedford Town.
On the 28th to 30th September the Green Team went to two Towns, on Adelaide and Alice. At Adelaide in Ward 21 and 22 the areas were Old Bezuidenhoutville, Old Lingelethu, New Lingelethu and Adelaide Town. In Alice on the same dates areas that were cleaned up, Ntselamanzi main street, open space next to hall, Alice 1st bridge, 80 Golf Course, Old Municipal Offices, Alice Park, Caravans area and Council Chambers. “We need a team of dedicated disciplined people who would take it to them and own that element of cleaning their towns and communities with passion without fail” says Raymond Mhlaba Municipality Mayor, Honourable Bandile Ketelo when he was doing a motivational speech at TRC HALL.
Cleaning Campain is on track; from 5th to 7th October the Green Team will be cleaning the following areas, open space next to paving, Group Five, Jika Uyibambe, Cape College Road, Daweti next to graveyard, Dubu Cemetery, Tyoksville, Fort Beaufort Bridge, Transfer station.
In Seymour Town from the 5th to 7th October, the team will be cleaning up at Ward 4, Old Location and Joe Slovo.
