Raymond Mhlaba Municipality has officially opened and named its building formerly known as Middledrift Multi-purpose Centre to be the Bonakele Milner Ntsangani Multi-purpose Centre at Middledrift Town. The Centre which could accommodate more than 450 people in its capacity would be of high benefit to the people of Raymond Mhlaba and especially Middledrift communities.
Currently, the Bonakele Milner Ntsangani Multi-purpose Centre has offices of Department of Home Affairs and it will embrace the municipal offices including Finance and administration. The unveiling of the Memorial Plaque was conducted by Hon Mayor Cllr Bandile Ketelo with the Amathole District Executive Mayor, Cllr Khanyile Maneli.
Among the guests , to name few, the Ntsangani Family, MP Sakhumzi Somyo, Amathole District Deputy Mayor, Cllr Nomfusi Nxawe, Speaker Anele Ntsangani with councilors, Bhishop Siwa, Chief of AmaGqunukhwebe Nokwandisa Kama, MISS SA 2nd Runner Up Zimi Mabunzi.
The Municipal Manager, Ms Unathi Malinzi with her team of directors and all the managers of various departments and officials were there in making sure the success of that event.
Zimi Mabunzi was announced as the Amathole District Ambassador for developmental projects with motivation to youth, it was officially announced by the Exec Mayor, Cllr K.C Maneli.
The Memorial Lecture was delivered virtually by a well known freedom fighter, Mr Mzwandile Masala who fought for the liberation alongside Bonakele Milner Ntsangani. In his speech he was distinct and precise in explaining the role played by Bonakele Ntsangani and his contribution to the emancipation of all races from the bondage of apartheid. He closed his speech by making a plea to current leadership and communities to guard the property made for them, he thanked the municipality and government at large with the people of AmaGqunukhwebe by honouring Ntsangani and name the Multi-purpose Centre after him.
The vent was carried out with dignity with all the protocols of Covid Regulations, Wear a musk, sanitize and social distance.
